The Asia Pacific Evaluation Association works for strengthening national evaluation societies, networks, sectoral, as well as thematic evaluation associations, and sub-regional organizations or groupings in the region though various engagements. It also helps interested parties to organize and establish national evaluation associations to represent their respective countries in the APEA.

APEA also gears towards influencing governmental policies to develop evaluation culture in public sector management and implement M&E in their systems. It has laid out plans for enhancing the enabling environment for evaluation, including strengthening the demand for and use of evaluations by policy makers in the region.

Lastly, APEA organizes workshops to be led by experts in developing evaluation capacity among practitioners in the region and other parts of the globe. It supports conduct of evaluation research projects in specific development areas through the awarding of competitive grant proposals among evaluation association members, with funding coopted by APEA together with international partners.
